Bundick Lake Archeological Dig

The marker has found a home at the Fannin Ranch hunting lodge.
Louise S. O'Connor and Kai Buckert were recently awarded a marker from the Texas Historical Commission for archeological preservation.  The Museum of the Coastal Bend awarded the marker for allowing archeologists to dig at Bundick Lake, which is part of the Duke Ranch, located in Goliad and Refugio Counties.  A vast number of points have been found at Bundick over the years, especially after a heavy rain.  The really exciting part about this dig was that most of the artifacts that were found date between 8000 and 10,000 years old, with some dating back to 12,000 years old.  The found artifacts are on display at the Museum of the Coastal Bend in Victoria.

The wildflowers this spring were vibrant from the spring rain.

Welcome to Wexford Ranches: Ranching in the 21st Century.  I grew up on the ranch and still spend time roaming on the ranches in South and West Texas.  I had a stereotypical Texas childhood.  No, I didn't ride a horse to school, but I did pretty much everything else you ever think Texans might do.

Wexford Ranches will share what ranch life is like in the 21st Century.  Yes, the cattle still have to be worked and deer are still harvested, but you can send a photo of a cow from your iPhone, the lands are managed through modern conservation practices, and you can watch hunts on the ranch on the tube.

We hope you join us for our adventures in ranching in the 21st Century.
