Exploring in West Texas

Water carved limestone canyon.

For the past week I've been at the Lado, hiking and riding around, seeing what there is to see.  It's amazing that in what, at a distance, seems like such a desolate landscape, is really full of life and lots of hidden treasures.  On Thursday, we hiked up an intermittent stream bed which was full of water carved limestone, sandstone, and metamorphic rock.  There were junipers over a hundred years old, caves, cactus, flowers, and quiet.

That's some determination.

Near the top of the creek bed.

More water carved stream bed.

One of the huge junipers in the canyon.

Trying to catch a little slack

Here’s another reminder of how bad the drought was (and still is for a lot of Texans).  This rabbit was trying to catch a little shade—under the gate.  It’s a hard knock life sometimes in Texas.

Shipping Cattle

This is a little late, but I guess it's better late than never!  Last month Wexford shipped cattle for the highest prices on record.  It was especially great/disgusting because the cattle were full of green grass from recent rains.  Keep your fingers crossed that the rain keeps coming and the cattle prices keep going up.

You can check out the current cattle prices in Texas here.
